A lot of people utilize a radar detector in their motor vehicles to help them become aware of, at least, some of the police monitoring of their speed. They understand that if they can acquire this data, in a timely manner, they will usually be able to slow down, in the event they were exceeding the speed limit, and avoid being issued a speeding citation.

A ticket is representative of many things to a driver, and none of them are good. There is the loss of funds and also the mark on their driving record, which cumulatively, can lead to the suspension of their driving privileges.

An individual may mount a legal defense to a traffic citation by opting to take her case before a judge. A defendant in traffic court is readily allowed to represent herself, but she also has the option to hire a lawyer. She may have to take a defensive driving class of part of the outcome of the case. When all is said and done, there could be costs of the citation, added court fees, the expense of the driving course and the invoice from her legal counsel. She may also have lost money due to taking time off work.

As you can see, receiving a speeding ticket in no small matter. There is little wonder why so many people are so adamant about their right to do everything possible to prevent it, including using a radar detector. On the other hand, many groups who are strong proponents for public safety, including most police officers, will tell you the only thing anybody needs to do to prevent a speeding ticket, is to make sure they do not exceed the legal speed limit.

Quite a few nations of the world, outright ban these devices. The country with the worst penalties for violating the ban is Greece. You get five points on your permanent driving record, that can help to make real trouble in the future, long after you forgot about it. You will be fined 2 thousand euros. You car can not be used for sixty days, and you can not drive any car for 30 days.

Radar detectors are legal in many countries, but there is one nation that is most friendly to them: Israel. They even have cell phones you can buy there, with radar detection abilities built in. In the United States, with a few slight exceptions, they are generally allowable. Department of Transportation rules prohibit them from commercial vehicles.

They are disallowed in the District of Columbia. They’re also illegal in Virginia, despite an attempt by some legislators to overturn the ban in 2010. Connecticut overturned their ban on the devices in 1992.

California, Minnesota and New York have laws against affixing anything to a windshield other than the rear view mirror, but there in no prohibition on detectors, or affixing them to the dashboard, and in the car grill.

In recent years, radar technology and GPS technology have been working together on certain models. These will warn you when you are coming upon places that are known to have traffic cameras. You have the option, on these models, to set them at any point, to remind you whenever you approach that same point in the future. This lets you mark areas you consider to be speed traps.

The irony to this all of this is that several studies has indicated that drivers who use a radar detector are less likely to be involved in a collision. It might have something to do with their driving skills, or it could be due to the possibility that by consciously avoiding speeding tickets, they pay more attention to what they are doing. They know these devices do not make them immune to getting caught, and they are not always exceeding the speed laws.

Craig Henderson has written many radar detector reviews for the best rated radar detectors like Escort Passport, Valentine One and Beltronics radar detectors. He himself uses the best radar detector whenever he goes on trips.

Recently a man has been accused if a hit and run collision as a bonfire event in Ireland. In his defence he has stated that he feared he would be murdered by a mob apparently attacking his car. The accused alleges that he was at one point surrounded by a gang as he attempted to drive through his village in Belfast.

The man accused of committing the crime will now answer to a number of motoring offences he has supposedly committed. These offences include causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving, driving without insurance and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. He already stands accused of committing the following motoring offences; taking a car without consent, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving whilst disqualified

It was reported that seven people including two children were injured when the car hit a group of people in the village.

A police officer has claimed he could connect the man with all of the offences and expressed his fear that giving the man bail would see him being a risk to the public due to reoffending. The officer also described how a woman allegedly had to jump over a wall in order to avoid the man reversing into her.

The defendant’s plea of innocence stated that he was driving due to his pregnant partner experiencing pains. He claimed that he believed that the angry mob surrounding the car would have murdered or seriously injured him had they been able to get to him. He therefore concluded that he did not have any choice in taking his car and driving.

The man is also said to have denied that his driving was dangerous. Despite his plea of innocence his solicitor entered the man was refused bail as it was thought that he would pose a risk to the safety of the public were he to reoffend. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in court again next month via video link.

If you are thinking about a career in law why not consider in house law jobs. Working for a Chester law firm is also an attractive option.

Over a decade ago McLaren entered the record books with the fastest production car ever made, their iconic F1. Just 106 of the cars were ever built and the exclusivity ensured their notoriety but this year Chairman Ron Dennis has made a statement “Since 1966, when McLaren first raced in F1, 106 teams have come and gone – and that tells me that if we stay solely as an F1 team it will lead to extinction.” Their latest creation, the MP4-12C is not just an attempt to experiment with new driving technology, but to fight off the curse that has fallen so many of their racing rivals.

McLaren plan to produce 1,200 of the cars in the each year, which should mean it can compete with the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini and other supercar companies it may rival. It will cost around 150,000 which is standard supercar money and there have been 1,600 pre-orders already.

McLaren will be building a new factory to produce the car which is set to go into production in 2011, when production begins it will create 300 new jobs. McLaren revealed the MP4-12C at a press conference at their futuristic headquarters outside of Woking; it was uncovered by its first two test drivers, McLarens star F1 racers, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.

Antony Sheriff, Managing Director, explained “The 12C won’t take you to the edge of what’s possible; It will take you to the edge of the edge. It’s what we call an ‘and’ car. It’s powerful and efficient; lightweight and safe; fast and comfortable.” The car will be built using a revolutionary new carbon monocoque chassis based on their F1 cars and they claim it will be able to reach 60mph in “under three seconds”.

Although it could be one of 2011s biggest supercars it will likely not cause as much of a buzz as their F1, however the bigger question is whether the success of this car and this brand will be affected by the one thing they held very dear, their exclusivity? Will the rich and famous still queue up to buy one if it they won’t be the only one driving it? It’s a question that only time will answer but one that could determine the future of this Formula racing giant.

The speed the MP4-12C is capable might persuade McLaren to provide a driving offence solicitor with each car. Their previous F1 required almost every owner to enlist a speeding solicitor at some stage

Dennis says McLaren are planning to build over 1,200 of the cars in the first year alone, putting it in the leagues of the manufacturers it will be competing with. It is estimated to cost around 150,000 which is standard supercar money and there have been 1,600 pre-orders already.

The factory which is set to be producing the car by 2011 has not yet been built, but when it is it will create 300 new jobs. It’s a question that only time will answer but one that could determine the future of this Formula racing giant.

The new McLaren is bound to cause a few driving bans as many of the owners of the previous F1 were convicted of driving offence solicitor within months of receiving the car.

Born in Silicon Valley, financed by a PayPal billionaire, the Tesla Roadster Sport is the first commercially viable, fully electric supercar. It was an unusual motoring start-up founded by Californian software engineer Martin Eberhard.

The aim of the company was to develop a car that ran on sustainable energy and was practical enough to use every day. The difficulty was developing the technology and putting it in a car everybody could afford. Eberhand decided that their first venture would have to start out like the high tech gadgets he had worked with, hyped-up, over priced and rare, becoming cheaper with time and volume. This would mean that the first line of consumers would subsidise the development of the company.

A supercar concept was created to prove that green cars can be sexy, sporty and practical. Tesla set about designing the battery and engine system but left the design and manufacture of the car to British racing legends Lotus.

The empty cars were shipped to California where the engines were installed and charged bringing the final cost of the car to around 80,000. It’s a modest price for a supercar but a steal of an investment into a company that could hold the future for the motoring industry.

The company was backed by South African billionaire Elon Musk, who sold PayPal to eBay; he was currently investing in commercial rocket science with an aim to put men on mars. Musk had strong ties with Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin who also invested in the company, ties to a film company gave Tesla a chance to market the car to George Clooney, who in turn convinced Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and a list of celebrities to rival the Oscars. With celebrity endorsement came publicity and the company was the darling of the ‘cleantech’ industry.

There is currently a waiting list of over 1000for the car which went into production last year. Customers include all of the investors along with a’ who’s-who’ of the rich and famous as jumping on the eco-wagon becomes increasingly fashionable.

Official stats claim the Roadster can achieve 0-60 in 3.7 seconds with a limited top speed of 125mph, this means it can out-drag a Ferrari while silently keeping you pinned in your seat from the instance you touch the pedal.

Musk says he plans on selling the intellectual property for their engines to some of the European car giants which he hopes will cause a rise in electric car technology, meaning even if your next car isn’t electric, the one after probably will be.

Although the Tesla is capable of speeding, it’s electronic speed limiter complies with motoring law.

Born in the minds of a group of Silicon Valley millionaires, financed by Elon Musk, a PayPal billionaire, the Tesla Roadster Sport is the first electric car, a supercar at that, with real commercial potential. It is an unusual motoring start-up founded not by a motor enthusiast but Californian software engineer Martin Eberhard.

Eberhard wanted to create a car that could run entirely on electricity but unlike all its competitors, was practical enough to use every day. But he soon discovered why it had not been developed before, it was far too difficult to develop the technology and put it in a car everybody could afford. So they didn’t; they decided that the first car would have to start out like the high tech gadgets, hyped-up, over priced and rare, becoming cheaper with time and volume. This would mean that the development of the company would be subsidised by the first line of consumers.

The bodies were designed by British racing legends Lotus and were shipped to California where the engines were installed and charged which brought the final cost of the car to $100,000. Most would argue that its modest price for a supercar and many would agree it’s a steal of an investment into a company that could hold the future for the motoring industry.

Musk has strong ties to Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin and the movie industry so as soon as production began, there was a’ who’s-who’ of the rich and famous on the waiting list as jumping on the eco-wagon is becoming increasingly fashionable.

When officially tested, the Roadster was found to be capable of achieving 0-60 in 3.7 seconds with a limited top speed of 125mph. This meant the first electric supercar could out-perform a Ferrari while keeping you pinned in your seat from the instance you touch the pedal, all in absolute silence.

Tesla also plan on selling the intellectual property for their engines to some of the European car giants which could create a huge supple of affordable electric cars, meaning even if your next car isn’t electric, the one after probably will be.

Even though the Tesla is limited to 125mph, you will still need a driving offence solicitor for any speeding offence you may commit.

Traffic tickets can stick with you for a while. Some states will keep this violation on your record for 2 or 3 years. You will also face higher insurance premiums, once you have paid the expensive fee that often accompanies a violation. If you feel that you were unjustly served a violation, there are a number of techniques you can use in court in order to prevent this violation from sticking to your record.

Typically, a violation is given due to the subjective judgment of a police office. Challenge this view, but make sure to use facts to back up your argument to make it reasonable. When you only depend on your word versus the officer’s word, the judge will most likely side with the officer. For instance, challenge where the officer was located, and how this may have hindered his viewpoint of what actually happened.

There are practical steps you can take to create doubt in a judge’s mind. Remember; do not only rely on your words and your version of the story. Gather real information and facts to build your case.

Example of case building can be the gathering of eyewitness statements. Take statements from bystanders or the passenger in the car, who may be willing to testify on your behalf. Present a simple and easy to understand diagram of the location of the incident. This may be particularly helpful if you are disputing an incident that involves an intersection. Consult assistance with a professional criminal lawyer if you feel unprepared for your trial.

Present pictures of road signs or conditions that may have provoked your driving. These pictures can be used to show unclear road signs, such as a stop sign covered by a tree, etc. You can also use this strategy to show that the officer may not have had a clear vantage point of what supposed driving violation you committed, from where the police car was parked.

Prove to the judge that you made an honest, unintentional mistake. This may happen if you failed to stop at a pedestrian stop because the strips were faded. You may have missed a stop sign that has just been placed. With this strategy you are building a case that you could not have known what action was required of you, since the conditions were so unclear.

Sometimes you may have had to actually do what you are being violated for. In this case, you may seek legal justification. For instance, you may have been driving slowly in the left lane because you were preparing for a legal left turn. You may have switched lanes without using a signal because a car was closing in on you quickly, and you were afraid of being part of an accident.

It may seem that fighting traffic tickets are a lost cause, but not fighting them may become a burden to your wallet. You will have to pay the fee that is associated with the violation. Then, you can also expect to pay higher premium rates on your automobile insurance. In addition, you can also expect demerit points placed on your license. Depending on your state these points may stay on your license anywhere from 2-3 years.

UK drivers have heavily criticised the government and authorities over the legality of many of their speed cameras. Although the devices are intended as a ‘deterrent’ from speeding to improve road safety, many dispute that they are simply intended as a revenue system for the government. speed cameras have generated over 100m in the UK In the past year alone.

Traffic police and councils are supposedly taking advantage of vague boundaries and there are many arguments against both fixed speed cameras and mobile units. Experts have also claimed that digital systems are open to tampering but would still leave innocent drivers open to prosecution.

One of the largest criticisms of fixed cameras is their placement and visibility to motorists. Many forward facing cameras are purposefully placed behind large street signs, trees or walls to avoid being spotted by motorists until they are in its range. This has been disputed as the law states cameras MUST be in place as a visual deterrent and not an entrapment device which cannot be possible if they are obscured from view. If the speed limit is 40mph or less, they must be visible from 60m, 100m over 40mph.

Mobile speed cameras have seen increasing use but despite a strict set of rules and regulations, there is much evidence that officers have been working unlawfully to increase revenue. Even if a driver is caught speeding and believes the camera which spotted them was placed illegally they cannot appeal without evidence and even if they do it probably wont get them anywhere. Many websites have popped up with pictures of camera vans parked on pavements with double yellow lines, hidden around bends, in the way of pedestrians and blocking entrances to properties, the aims is to fight against illegal entrapment.

Another technicality has been brought to light that since 1992, none of the 6000 speed cameras set up have had acquired the necessary parliamentary approval after a change in legislation. This could mean that virtually every single speeding ticket issue in the UK since 1992 could be illegal and all evidence collected on the roads could be dismissed.

A sentence of five months in jail has been handed to Britain’s most convicted driver, Thomas Feely, after collecting over 110 driving offences. He was pulled over by police in Leeds where he was found to be driving a van with no licence, no insurance and whilst currently disqualified and just three days before he was due to be sentenced for an earlier similar offence.

Although he contests that he needs to drive because of his mobile DJ business, Leeds magistrates said his 59 previous driving bans were the worst they had ever seen. Over 28 years of driving, Feely has been convicted of 89 offences but so far avoided jail.

The reputation of British traffic police has suffered in recent times, with some counties reporting over 30 convictions on some roads per day. Although over 6000 speed cameras have been installed, the government has received much criticism as there has been little effect on road safety. Many critics argue that the safety of motorists is being used as an excuse to generate revenue for the government in the form of speeding fines.

Road safety charity ‘brake’ spokeswoman, Sarah Fatica says, “Anyone who has been disqualified so many times poses a serious risk on the roads, it’s disturbing that he has been allowed to continue breaking his ban time and time again.” She remarked that “Five months in jail is laughable given his continued disregard for the law”

An increase in car insurance for Britain’s drivers has been attributed to behaviour like Feely’s. Comprehensive insurance policy now costs on average over 1000 a year, an increase of 20% since 2008. The AA has claimed this is largely due to uninsured drivers, which are expected to cost UK motorists 2.1bn in the next year. This is predicted to cause a vicious cycle with a recession causing a decrease in income causing more and more people are tempted to drive without insurance, therefore raising premiums.

If you have been convicted of and driving offences you could make use of a traffic offence solicitor especially if you already have a drink driving ban

If you reach the highest number of penalty points allowed on a driving licence or have committed an offence that was considered by the courts to have put the lives of others at risk you will most likely lose your driving licence.

If you reach the highest number of penalty points allowed on a driving licence or have committed an offence that was considered by the courts to have put the lives of others at risk you will most likely lose your driving licence.

A disqualification from driving can range from one year to ten years depending on the severity of the offence. There are also cases where a judge will rule that the offender should serve a lifetime disqualification to avoid putting the lives of others at risk.

When offences are less severe, offenders may be required to serve a Short Period Disqualification (SPD) which is less than fifty six days. The court will keep your driving licence for the duration of the period but it will not be revoked, you will not need to retake a test and you can start driving once the SPD has expired.

If you have lost your licence you may reapply after the period of the disqualification which can be done by filling in the correct forms available online or at a post office. This will only get you a provisional driving licence so you can apply to re-take the theory, hazard perception and practical test.

Unless otherwise inculcated by a magistrate, the endorsements of a disqualification will remain on a licence for which you will need to appear and present your case to have them removed.

If someone has been disqualified they may apply for their licence earlier than the expiry of the disqualification. However, this depends on the individual circumstances of the driver and the length of the ban.

A court may allow a driver to only serve half their disqualification if they have undertaken drink driving rehabilitation courses or other steps to ensure safer driving once qualified. The court may also consider the effect of the ban on an individual’s family life or career.

Disqualifications longer than 2 years may be overturned after half the proposed disqualification period, for example for a ban of 6 years you can apply after 3. If you re-offended, driving or otherwise, since your disqualification the court will instantly dismiss your application. If you drive whilst banned you may face a custodial sentence and a hefty fine.
