Are you a person that truly loves their automobile? Are you the type that just cannot wait for the next opportunity to put the top down, turn up the radio, and hit the nearest route for a nice long drive? Then you will understand the appeal of a slightly smaller version of those joys, that of collecting diecast models scale cars .

These miniature and scale versions of the real thing are actually quite beautiful and artfully made. They are true works of art in which oftentimes the parts are actually functional! They sport the same engines, interiors, and paint motifs as the actual versions they look like, and are quite fascinating in their own way.

What is the best you can do this fascination? Why not share others who also feel this feeling? One fantastic way to start is by taking up the practice of photographing you toys. Put them in life like scenes, or make a pictograph of you building or restoring one. Just gather up some interesting and fun photos and post them online for your buddies to check out. Maybe you can create a space where they can post their pictures as well.

Better than just showing off pictures, how about a real meet and greet in your backyard or something? Make it a car club, but for little cars! Find a place you can meet, set up the tables and chairs, leave plenty of room to work on your hobby and help each other out, and you have got yourself a fraternal organization!

Hey, if you can hook up with other little car clubs, then why not join forces and put on an actual car show? Put it on just like the big ones at the fairgrounds, except you will not need near as much space. But you can sure enough have as much fun. Give away prizes for the finest and fanciest, set up a swap meet area for trades and sales, and try to make it as professional as the commercial gigs. This is a sure fire hit.

Now that you have club meeting and car shows and pictures to share, why not roll of this information up into one nice package with a newsletter? Here the pictures are in it, the club news, the show dates and times, want ads, and anything else deemed necessary for the enthusiasts in your circle. Everybody likes to stay in touch and know what is going on, and this is a great way to provide those services.

Finally then, when the fun and frolic is over, where do you go next? Home is usually on the minds of many, and what about home for your collectibles? Here may be the very best idea yet: either buy or build a nice, safe, garage for the little guys. Get a display case to store them in, keep them safe, keep them clean, and keep them in view. Every good hobby needs an audience, and yours can be on permanent display.

A lot of people have never even heard of Formula D or Formula Drifting, which gives a much better clue of what this motor sport is really all about. In deed, like all competitive motor sports it takes a great deal of skill, because the vehicles concerned can be anything from 200 to 600 bhp.

The purpose is to manage your car while it glides sideways through a pre-set course in style. The more style the better, speed is secondary.

In a way, Formula D takes all the spectacle out of other racing and packages them into one competition. The US drifting scene takes the excitement a stage further though. They play two cars off against each other at the simultaneously.

This makes it a great deal simpler to compare the abilities of the drivers and makes for some really exciting close driving – often the drivers’ vehicles are no more than inches apart.

This is electrifying stuff as the drivers control their cars through tremendous slides that would leave many drivers quaking. The nearest most drivers come to anywhere near this level of skidding is once a year on ice.

The sport of drifting actually began in Japan in the mid Nineties, but the drivers are now household names and the sport is crossing continents. In fact, there are fans of drifting all over the world, in spite of the fact that Formula D still gets relatively small coverage. There are now recognized amateur drifting meetings in the US, Australia and Europe.

You could in fact say that Drifting was an alternative sport until about 2003, when top Japanese professional drivers were brought to the United States for the first time to compete with local drivers en masse.

If you know of Formula D or would like to, please look up their website, because it is one of the few means along with watching it on TV that you can demonstrate that you support this exciting and relatively new motor sport, so that it will be able to stay afloat amid the harsh competition from more entrenched motor sports such as Formula One, NASCAR and Indy.

You can show your support as stated above, but you could also talk to your friends about it. Unfortunately, as yet, there are not a lot of locations where you can watch live Formula D competitions, but some of the few are in California, Washington, Illinois and Georgia. If you can get along to one of these live events, then you are sure not to be dissatisfied.

If you have even the slightest interest in auto sports at all, you will surely have heard of stock car racing. The term ’stock car’ simply refers to the fact that the cars used to be stock items at local garages. Consequently, stock car racing includes NASCAR and dirt track racing. These are the most common forms of stock car racing, but there is another that is far less well-known. It is known as Formula D or Formula Drifting

Many people imagine that because Formula D uses similar cars to the other stock car races, then Formula D is a form of racing cars too. Even though these sports do have certain things in common besides the kinds of cars they use, they are in fact quite different. however, they do all come under the heading of motor sports or auto sports.

In most motor sports, the car’s ability to go fast and the driver’s ability to encourage it to go fast are what are the most important factors in winning a race. However, in Formula D or Formula Drifting, it is the driver’s ability to control a skid or a drift which is the most important, although the cars can be really awesome beasts as well at between 200 and 600 bhp.

Drifting and stock car racing normally take place at different types of venues too. Stock car racing nearly always takes place in a stadium, racing around a track. Formula Drifting often takes place on asphalt, but sometimes on dirt as well, but it can also take place in a parking lot or a desolate street. If Drifters use a stadium they are unlikely to use the full length of the track.

The winning driver in standard stock car races is the one who passes over the finishing line in the fastest time. This is not so in Formula D as there is no finishing line as such. Drifters are judged on their ability to drift or skid and their ability to control that drift. They have to accomplish it at speed and remain on the ‘track’ as well.

This means that a drifter has to have a very high level of control over his vehicle, just like any other racing driver, but the set of skills is slightly different. All drivers have to be able to control the occasional skid, particularly the accidental ones, but drifters have to be able to do it with style and panache.

The only stumbling block from the spectators’ point of view is that Formula Drifting events are fairly infrequent when compared with stock car events. This is a pity because Formula Drifting is an thrilling motor sport to watch and you can see world professional champions in action for a fraction of the cost of watching stock car racing.

You will no doubt have heard of NASCAR, but do you know what it means and how much do you know about it? In this short article I will give you a brief history of NASCAR.

You will doubtless have heard of NASCAR, but do you know what it means and how much do you know about it? In this short article I will give you a brief history of NASCAR.

NASCAR is an acronym for the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. Surprisingly, it was started as a family business in 1947 by Bill France Sr. and is still family owned and family run. It is by far the largest sanctioning business for stock car racing in the United States and the three chief racing series that it approves are: the Sprint Cup, the Nationwide Series and the Camping World Truck Series. In deed, NASCAR approves more than 1,500 races at more than a 100 race tracks in thirty-nine states.

For historical causes which we will go into later, NASCAR’s headquarters are in Florida, but its roots are firmly set in North Carolina, where it has no fewer than four regional offices. They are at Concord, Conover, Mooresville and Charlotte, where the vast majority of NASCAR teams are still located.

A few more remarkable statistics about NASCAR are that NASCAR is viewed more often than any other sport in the United States with the one and only exception of professional football and it is broadcast in more than 150 countries world wide. NASCAR also organizes seventeen of the top twenty attended one-day sporting events in the world and its 75,000,000 devotees spend $3,000,000,000 every year on licensed articles. This is such an remarkable show of loyalty, that more Fortune 500 businesses sponsor NASCAR than any other motor sport.

Daytona Beach became the headquarters of NASCAR more or less by luck, because in the Twenties and Thirties, Daytona was the most successful surface in the world for attaining new world land speed records. Previously beaches in France and Belgium had been used, but maybe the wind on these Atlantic facing beaches was too unpredictable.

Anyway, eight consecutive world land speed records were set in Daytona between 1927 and 1935. Bonneville Salt Flats, Daytona Beach became synonymous with high speed cars and also became a magnet for racers and enthusiasts too.

In fact, stock car racing has its origins in the moonshine running of the Prohibition years, when bootleggers ran their moonshine from the Appalachians down south to the consumers. The drivers tuned up their cars to escape the police and became understandably proud of them. After Prohibition was repealed in 1933, drivers still ran the moonshine, but now it was to get out of paying revenue.

By the late Forties, drivers of these tuned up cars were holding races amongst themselves. They were especially popular in the Southern United States, principally in North Carolina. Bill France Sr. was an auto mechanic who moved from Washington DC to Daytona to avoid the Great Depression in 1935 and the stage was set, the players were in place.

Bill France entered the Daytona races in 1936 but only finished fifth. He took over running the race track in 1938 and began promoting races before the war. It was from there that he launched what was to become the huge family business called NASCAR that has employed most of his family ever since and given enjoyment to many millions of fans worldwide for more than sixty years.

Shock absorbers are a very important component for preventing excess movement of the automobile and the suspension. If vehicles did not have shocks, they would bounce down the road uncontrollably. Because of the bouncing of the vehicle, tires would not make contact with the road and trying to negotiate a corner, or braking will be extremely dangerous.

Just to give you an example of how shocks work, think about driving down a street with speed humps. When you go over the speed hump and should the car only be fitted with springs and no shocks, the springs would carry on moving up and down until they rid themselves of all the kinetic energy they built up during compression. This action will make the car bounce and sway when it has gone over the speed hump.

In contrast, imagine a car with both springs and shocks going over the same speed bump. In the same way, the springs would absorb the bump. The only difference is that the shocks would dampen the springs’ swinging by changing the moving energy into heat, and thereby stabilizing the car’s movement.

The way the shock works is that it makes use of two valves which increases the effectiveness of it. One of the valves is connected to a piston rod, which is connected to a piston. This piston sits in a tube filled with hydraulic oil. When the car wheel hits a bump in the road, this causes the spring to coil and uncoil. The energy of the spring is transferred to the shock absorber through the upper mount, down through the piston rod and into the piston.

Little holes situated in the piston lets fluids through when the piston goes down and up inside the cylinder. As the holes are so small, it only allows a limited amount of oil to pass through. This fluid is placed under pressure because of the amount it lets through. This will slow down the action of the piston and thus slow down the spring. It will then allow the assimilation of the shock from the spring’s movement to go into the shock absorber.

All modern shocks are speed sensitive, meaning that the faster the suspension moves, the more resistance the shock absorber provides. This allows shocks to adjust to the conditions of the road and to inhibit all of the dangerous actions that take place in a vehicle, like swaying from side to side and creating problems when braking.

When a vehicle starts becoming unsteady on bumpy roads or it has difficulty cornering, it is time to check the shocks. These are signs that the shock absorbers may need replacing.

The world’s largest selection of Rancho RS 5000 shocks is available at MY4BY OFF ROAD. Rancho RS5118 is a popular choice for many GM, Ford, and Jeep vehicles and is also great for custom-built applications.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a NASCAR team owner or team leader? This is what the Fantasy NASCAR League allows you to experience. Several other sports offer fantasy leagues, and in fact the Fantasy NASCAR League was based on the original fantasy league, the Soccer Fantasy League, but for lovers of car racing, it is the best one.

If you do not know how the Fantasy NASCAR League works, it is pretty simple to explain. People who register in the league become team owners, and they have to pick a racing team from the selection of real human drivers on the NASCAR circuit. These drivers then win points for the team, exactly as they do in real life.

This means that when one of your team members is taking part in a real race, say at Pocono, you can cheer him on in the anticipation that he will add points to your team’s total. This makes it fairly realistic, except that you do not have to foot the millions of dollars it would normally cost to own such a team and run it.

The Fantasy NASCAR League teams’ points totals are then held centrally and prizes are awarded at fixed intervals: monthly, quarterly, etc.. Some Fantasy NASCAR Leagues award prizes of gear or equipment others award prizes of money. Some charge to become a member, others do not.

The Fantasy NASCAR League began life in the Eighties after the success of the Fantasy Soccer League proved that the idea could work, but it did not really take off until ten years later when the league became more available to more people over the Internet. Fantasy leagues based on Formula One and Indy soon followed.

There are in fact quite a few Fantasy NASCAR Leagues and the rules vary slightly from league to league, although basically they all stick to the points awarded by NASCAR. However, there are often idiosyncratic rules to avoid ties such as limiting the number of times a driver’s results can be allowed for a fantasy team depending on the popularity of that driver within that fantasy league.

There are all sorts of Fantasy NASCAR Leagues, some even include motorcycle races in the list of races that a team owner has to forecast, while other leagues place significance on such criteria as fastest lap time, average lap time or total time spent in first place. Sometimes these extra rules are more important with Fantasy NASCAR Leagues that base their results on fewer races

There is of course an official NASCAR Fantasy NASCAR League, which is accessible at its website. In this league team owners get a hundred million dollars to assemble a team and the league is based on weekly results.

It also costs real money to play. However, you may think it a small price to pay to be involved with the sport you love at the official Fantasy NASCAR League level. For more details about the official Fantasy NASCAR League, please go over to their website.

Stock car racing was really born out of the desire of owners of customized stock (meaning: ‘off the sales lot’) cars to show off their vehicles, handimanship and driving expertise. The desire to ’soup up’ these stock cars came from the desire to elude the law enforcement agencies chasing them when they were running moonshine or said another way, bootlegging.

During Prohibition, a lot of moonshine whiskey was being made in remote areas of the Appalachians and in particular the Allegheny Mountains, from where it was taken by private carriers in their own stock cars often to the southern states. Many of these drivers tuned up their vehicles in order to have more chance of getting away.

When Prohibition was repealed in 1933, this bootlegging continued in order to circumvent paying duty, but it slowly died out. However, the fire had already been lit and the drivers of these cars liked to race them in their spare time for pride and reward, particularly in the southern states and particularly in North Carolina, where most of the stock car teams are still to be found.

NASCAR was founded by Bill French in 1947 when he crafted the first set of uniform rules and a championship scoring system so that an overall winner of all the season’s races could be worked out.

However, the conditions in the early days were pretty crude. The cars were often second-hand and worn and the track was just earth and dust. Under these conditions the cars quickly fell apart, so NASCAR allowed competing cars to be customized or strengthened. Safety aspects for the drivers were also introduced. Nowadays, the NASCAR instruction manual clearly defines all the modifications that are allowed on contending cars.

These days it is a mistake to call NASCAR cars ’stock cars’; they are anything but stock cars. NASCAR cars are hand made. The frames are different from stock cars in that they are manufactured from tubes for strength; the tin is sheet steel and the engine blocks begin as simply that – a bare block. What the mechanics do with it after that is a closely guarded secret.

The safety of the driver is also taken very earnestly. The driver is shielded from injury by a heavy roll cage. Strong round and square tubes make up the car’s framework, while thinner tubing is employed at the front and back ends to soak up the impact of crashes by crushing slowly. These are called clips and the front clip will also allow the engine to fall away under the car, rather than be forced straight back into the driver.

The bodies of NASCAR cars are not easy to make, often taking ten days to complete. However, NASCAR rules cover the general body shape and they provide thirty templates to make constructing a NASCAR car a bit easier.

But it does not stop there. There are different regulations and templates for different sorts of races on different tracks, because the cars that compete on superspeedways are not the same as those used for short tracks or endurance races.

Owen Jones, the author of this article writes on many subjects, but is currently concerned with thinking about the Poconos Raceway in Pennsylvania.
Perhaps you have thought about choosing a motor home break although have always been to some extent unsure? The article that follows is designed to provide you with the ultimate impetus you might require to help you to realize a super holiday.

Have you ever considered choosing a motor home break although have always been slightly uncertain? The article that follows is designed to provide you with the final impetus you might need to enable you to fulfill an excellent holiday.

Price – Most motor home vacations will amount to far less than traditional resort vacations either at home or overseas. Motorhome vacations will also be less costly than cruises. If you purchase an RV, over time your holidays will cost you little more than the cost of the gas, the food you eat, leisure activities and general running costs.

Family Unit – Lots of people maintain that RVs present the definitive family holiday, enabling mom and dad to spend quality time with one another and their children.

Flexibility – Motorhomes provide the flexibility to set off to anywhere you desire when you fancy. If you are enjoying any spot at which you stop, it is possible to stay for a longer time. Alternatively, if you do not enjoy where you are as much, you can just clean up and go elsewhere.

Versatility – RVs are extremely versatile and can be utilized for camping, traveling to outdoor functions and festivals and cycling holidays.

Fun – A motorhome vacation is primarily fun… largely because you will be getting to spend time traveling the great blue yonder, to your own personal schedule with folks who you really care about.

Relaxation – As a rule RVs these days are very comfortable coming fully equipped with air-conditioning, home entertainment equipment, bathrooms and kitchens. In terms of sleeping arrangements as a rule RV bedding will be far more comfortable than a camping mat! In addition, many vehicles will also either provide, or include bike racks.

Liberty – You will have the liberty to choose where you are headed, the place you stay, when you go and the length of your stay at any stop. Some people find this to be the most invigorating aspect of their motorhome expedition.

Options – You will be able to choose to stop at camp sites, RV sites or maybe somewhere more untamed (assuming you adhere to local regulations and rules). You may choose to change from one location to a different one at whatever time you want or just stay in one place. You can actually opt to have a barbecue outside, have a meal in the motor home itself or visit local eateries if there are any. The decision is quite plainly yours.

Convenience – There most likely is no equal in terms of convenience. Anything you may need will likely be built into your vehicle apart from food, clothing and water. You only need to ensure these are packed and off you go!

The Great Outdoors – One of the most energizing things about this type of vacation is the fact that you are so near to the natural world. You can feel this simply by stopping some place out-of-the-way with few traces of man’s touch. You can visit areas with clear untouched lakes, beautiful beaches or mountain passes by means of pristine forests: again you will have the freedom of choice. Simultaneously you have got access to any open-air pursuit that takes your fancy, from fishing, climbing and biking to swimming, golfing or kayaking.

If you are feeling this has stimulated you to check out motor home breaks, why not talk about your options with a local travel company or RV supplier?

Milton Keynes residents have many reasons to take driving lessons. This area of Buckinghamshire is a popular choice for businesses who want close proximity to London, located 45 miles away. As a result, there are lots of corporations and jobs in Milton Keynes. The opportunities for work are one reason why people embark on driving lessons in Milton Keynes.

Milton Keynes also has a wealth of visitor attractions, including Woburn Abbey, Stowe Landscape Gardens and Gulliver’s Land, a theme park for kids. Woburn Safari Park near the abbey is home to wild animals, including tigers, elephants, giraffes, birds of prey and many more animals. As the largest drive-through safari park in Britain, it is reason enough to learn to drive!

The educational opportunities in Milton Keynes also provide motivation for learning to drive. The area is home to Milton Keynes College and Cranfield University. Also based there is The Open University. Although most of its students are distance learners, there are 200 postgrads based at the Milton Keynes Campus.

Because there are no subway or metro services in Milton Keynes, getting to the urban center can be easier if you know how to drive. There are also many outlying rural areas; for instance, Woburn Abbey and Safari Park are in the countryside and reachable by car.

The decision to take driving lessons in Milton Keynes is smart, whether your place of work or home is located there. If Milton Keynes is where you spend the most time, it makes sense to learn about the road features and types of traffic in that area.
Take time choosing an instructor. Make sure that he or she is certified. It can also be helpful to enquire about the number of past students who passed their driving test. For a reference, it can be useful to contact previous students to find out about their experience.

Make sure that the instruction includes practice in the written part of the test, not just driving. The price for driving lessons in Milton Keynes varies. However, a ballpark figure is 20 to 25 pounds an hour. Some schools offer discounts if you buy several lessons at once. Make sure to confirm that the price quoted will remain the same throughout the lessons. Some untrustworthy instructors have been known to increase the price partway through the course.

Before taking driving lessons, you must have your provisional license. Any car you drive should be road worthy with its insurance and tax paid in full. You should also ensure that your eye sight is at the legally required level for driving. A little research and preparation will help to ensure that you find the best driving lessons in Milton Keynes for you.
