Always have a used car inspected by a good mechanic. That means driving the car to a garage. If it’s an online listing where no contact is expected, hire a garage to inspect the car for you. There are plenty of independent garages that will perform vehicle inspections. There’s no need to rely on the seller’s inspection or garage. Get a look from someone not involved in the sale. For under $50 you can avoid problems that could cost thousands, including the money spent on the cheap used car purchase price.

Purchase the used car on price, not on payments.  Even if the salesman keeps telling you about low monthly payments, ask for the price.  Dealers often use the financing to add a few dollars to the price, so don’t use their finance company.  Go in with your own financing or better yet save up to pay cash for the used car.  And when you pay cash, demand a discount.

Cheap used cars are a reality. There are a lot of modern tools to aid in their purchase. But it’s true for used cars just as it is for anything, if a deal looks too good to be true it is.

One of the ways to obtain a quality car on the cheap is to purchase cheap used cars. Even luxury models are much less expensive when purchased second hand. A new term has emerged over the last decade, pre-owned – to denote used cars that are of high quality. These pre-owned vehicles have even managed to pull some long time new car buyers into the used car market. Consider this with luxury cars. A Mercedes or Lexus is so well built that even 10 year old cars can still be in excellent condition. Some cheap new cars are quite nice, too. The Hyundai Elantra is a quality car under $12,000.  A well engineered car like the Honda Civic is only around $15K.  That car lasts a long time, and gets great gas mileage.  Luxury cars that need premium fuel and parts are generally more expensive to maintain too.

Try the cheaper, not really cheap, luxury cars.  Audi makes luxury cars that compete with Mercedes and Lexus, but generally at the lower end of the price spread for like models.  These are the best engineered in the world, nobody beats them.  The Audi TT can be just as much fun as a Porsche, but much less expensive.

Of course some people want cheap, cheaper, cheapest.  They turn to the clunker, the hooptie, the ancient model car that was probably old when their parents first bought a car.  Teens often buy this style of car.  It’s a set of wheels, and it gives them practice for a life time of practical mechanical knowledge. But watch out, the age old adage “You get what you pay for” applies to cheap cars too. It may not seem like such a deal when it won’t start on a cold winter morning.

The engine and interior is relatively similar to the previous Fiesta models. That isn’t a bad thing though; the Fiesta has always been a comfortable place to be when driving. There is also the added bonus of sat-nav, Bluetooth and MP3 Connectivity in some of the Fiesta’s various trim specifications. The engines are also fairly similar to previous Fiesta incumbents, the 1.25 Litre petrol option being the standard choice.

As far as drive quality goes, the Ford Fiesta is simply perfect for its price range. The lightness of steering and eagerness of the engine make this a very enjoyable car to drive, whether you are in the city or motorway. It is, however, at its best when cruising through the city streets, looking and handling confident and assured amongst the various challenges with urban driving.

As there are a great deal of models and trims to choose from, recommending the right Fiesta is a difficult choice. There isn’t a huge amount of performance difference between some of the models, other than slightly more powerful engines. I would recommend that as this is a budget supermini, you keep the spec simple and keep costs down. You will still experience a fantastic drive and one far superior to the Fiesta’s competition.

It seems of little consequence which Ford car you pick, as in recent years the flagship models (Ka, Fiesta and Focus) have all gone under the surgeon’s knife and come out looking sleeker, sexier and a whole lot more eye-catching. Every design change has got the automotive world talking thanks to the influence Ford has over the entire industry. The Corsa’s only downfall was that it failed to match the extremely high build and ride quality that the Fiesta displayed. The VW Polo also looks the part and feels the part, but the elevated tag price means that a sizeable proportion of the target demographic (who can barely afford to eat a decent meal every night, let alone spend £12,000 on a new car) were dissuaded from the.

Ford certainly doesn’t look like letting slip its stranglehold on the automotive world in terms of fashion stakes for any time in the foreseeable future. So with that said, it’s very difficult to know exactly how any opposing manufacturers plan on stealing the Fashion Crown off Ford.
