I use to go to work by automobile for the previous 6 years; it is routinely an hour there and the same back perhaps a bit longer during the cold winter months if it was a straight road or broader this wouldn’t take as long it’s just because the 1st/last 8-10 miles are shitty country lanes where you could not fit a 4×4 never mind your standard estate.

So to say the least this journey was now changing into a chor and you can know how road rage starts not that I ever had that problem maybe one or two choice words but that's about it.

This was not the key reason why I made up my mind to leave my car at home nevertheless it did contribute, I was talking to somebody from home who works in the same city as me and over a drink was enlightening him of my disappointment of travelling to and thro to work and how much it was costing me in gas which was an outrage I tell you 60 quid a week infact.

Now in this economic environment every penny is important as wages are staying the same but the price of living is going up, so this guy asserts to me why not get the train it’s much faster and cheaper so I claimed to him how much faster and cheaper the journey takes 35mins and a once-per-week ticket is 38.50 sounds great but I like driving my used ford with the music up and nobody invading your privacy clean seats etc but common sense usurped it’s a no brainer really.

So Monday morning came as I was having breakfast was looking out towards the driveway at my vehicle and thinking sod this I am driving to work can’t be arsed with the train but the missus says think of the pennies you would be saving yep right I know what your thinking how it’s possible for you to spend this additional cash. So of to the train station I went and got the train and in all truthfully it wasn’t as nasty as I believed but the nicest thing about leaving my car at home each Sat. the missus goes of into village to get hair/nails done with our new found wealth and I get 3-4 hours of pure exhilaration.
