What can I do while driving by myself from Kansas City to Colorado?

jet’s Girl asked:

I’m driving by myself to Colorado tomorrow and I need something to do to pass the time. My stereo was stolen this summer and I got it replaced but the radio doesn’t work. My cds were also stolen as well. I think I will die if I have to sit in dead silence for 10 hours. I’m going to Italy this summer so it would be nice to be able to brush up on my Italian. Does anyone know of where I could download some tutorials to burn to a cd or have any suggestions of something else I could do?

Considering how bad the weather as been out there, i would pay attention to the road and do NOT use headphones! PLEASE!

does your stereo play tapes or cds? go to a used record shop and spend 10/20 bucks or try to borrow some tunes!

if all else fails SING outloud!!! talk outloud, sing, scream, etc! but please pay attention to the road.

Go to NPR and down load a bunch of MP3 to your laptop. You might be able to find some Italian podcasts. You will need an inverter (about $20) so you can use the lighter to keep your laptop going.

Look into taking someone with a driver’s license that you trust that has a fun personality that can share the driving. If you can’t find a “ride a long partner”, enjoy being by yourself by reciting some fun things that you memorized over the years like a movie script, a song or some poetry. Take a camera along and stop every now and then to stretch your legs and snap a few pictures that you can reflect on years from now. If you believe in God now may be a good time to meditate and strengthen your relationship with him.
