I have a 4 wheel drive Durango that has overdrive on it. Should I be driving with the o/d on or off? and when is overdrive used?

drive your vehicle with overdrive “on” in every condition except towing and large hills

use o/d on flat stretches of highway.

Only activate the OD OFF feature when operating in very hilly terrain or if loaded at or very near the limit of the vehicle.

Best to drive it with o/d on for many reasons. If towing and the load is heavy then it is wise to have it off!

The only times you don’t use over drive is when you’ve hwy speeds and are going up steep hills or going down them then you use the lower gears at slow speeds and use 3rd gear if at over 60 km and hr speeds or hwy speeds and approaching or going down steep hills or roads.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way it’s great to to have the owner’s manuals handy bec they do include such info and if you don’t have one try going to the do it yourself auto wreckers and while picking up some part you need check inside vehicles bec many many times I’ve seen vehicles with the owners manual in case and in perfect or great shape.
