Motor Cycle Oil

Are you using your father’s cheap motor oil in your motorcycle that he used in his old Buick, forget about it.  Don’t spend so much time and effort on a high performance bike then skimp on the most important fluid, the motorcycle oil..  There is a good chance that your biker buddy does not know the difference.  Before getting that new chrome plated gas tank, find out how and when you need to conduct scheduled maintenance on your motorcycle.

Your motorcycle’s maintenance “to do list” should be explained in the owner’s manual, step one should be locating your manual. If you did not purchase your motorcycle brand new, you could always get a copy of the owner’s manual from the maker’s web site.  Your manufacturer will help you identify when to do your scheduled maintenance for all aspects of your motorcycle including motorcycle chain oil .

Using your owner’s manual, verify that you may use synthetic motorcycle oil or stick with the usual motorcycle oil.  No matter which motorcycle oil you choose to use, it is important to use the best motorcycle oil for your specific bike. If you would like to increase fuel economy you will want to go with a synthetic motorcycle oil.

The procedure for giving your motorcycle an oil change are not much different, drain motorcycle oil, change filter, refill oil. Finding a great oil for your motorcycle is important and time consuming, but not impossible. Do not sew a patch on your tuxedo, that is to say that you should not buy a high performance motorcycle and fill it with the same oil that you use in your garden tractor, high performance motorcycles deserve high performance lubricants. When traveling at high speeds, in heavy traffic, on the open highway, your life may depend on the performance of your motorcycle, saving a couple of dollars and using a cheap motor oil is probably not the best plan. Scheduled maintenance can prolong and enhance the life of most engines and ensure the protection of your investment.

Taking care of your motorcycle’s engine is your responsibility, give it the best lubrication you possibly can. Spending a little more in terms of motorcycle oil may preserve your big investment in the future and keep you enjoying the great outdoors.
