Can I get a ticket for driving to renew my license once I get there?

by admin on March 29, 2007

Crystal C asked:

My drivers license expired in February. If I go renew it today at the DMV, can they give me a ticket for driving there? How else do they expect you to get there anyway? Don’t take cabs.
My husband is trying to tell me to park somewhere else and walk there.

Not unless you get stopped by a cop along the way.

They expect you to drive over there, and renew it, BEFORE it expires.

Which would have meant you won’t get a ticket, because it’s still valid.

As it is, you definitely can get a ticket for this. It’s not like it expires today. You knew about this a long time ago, and just have failed to do anything about it.

And yeah, you’ll probably be hit with some fines, because it’ll be rather obvious that you’re operating a vehicle with a greatly expired license.

Good job.

The DMV don’t care how you got there. Just got get caught by the cops on your way there.

the dmv can not issue a ticket however if you get pulled over on the way you will be ticketed. Whats wrong with taking a cab?

LOL there isn’t a cop sitting at the entrance checking everyone is there?
DMV employees do not have this authority nor do they care. if asked say you took the bus or a friend dropped you off but they will not ask.

Not only is it against the law, your insurance policy will be void if you get in an accident.

Get someone to drive you there and avoid the hassle and risk.
